History

Hitachi established as a repair shop at a mining site in 1910, and started its business as a manufacturer, producing the first "5HP Induction Motor". Over 100 years of operation, Hitachi developed a broad variety of products, services and solutions that addressed the wide range of challenges faced by the society. With environmental issues like global warming becoming more and more urgent in recent years, Hitachi has been researching energy efficiency and green energy to improve the global environments and is developing related equipment and systems while refining technology by applying developed products to the company's own plants. The company aims to contribute to the improvement of current and future global, social and security environments using its technological capabilities.

1900s

  • 1907 - Tokyo Tukudajima Machinery Company established (Later named Kameido Works).

1920s

  • 1920 - Kameido Works established.

1930s

  • 1939 - Taga Works established.

1940s

  • 1943 - Small size compressor business transferred from Kameido Works to Shimizu Branch of Kameari Works.
  • 1944 - Shimizu Works established.

1950s

  • 1950 - Osaka Hitachi Service station established.
  • 1952 - Industrial Components & Equipments Div. established in Hitachi, Ltd.

1960s

  • 1962 - Hitachi Drive systems Div. transferred from Kameido Works to Narashino Works.
  • 1963 - Narashino Works established.

1970s

  • 1974 - Nakajo Works established, closed Kameido Works.

1980s

  • 1988 - Compressor Division transferred to Shimizu.

1990s

  • 1999 - Industrial Components & Equipments Group established in Hitachi, Ltd.

2000s

  • 2000 - Drive Systems Manufacturing function split from Narashino Works (Hitachi Drive Systems)
  • 2000 - Nakajo Manufacturing Function split from Nakajo Works (Hitachi Nakajo Technology)
  • 2001 - Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd. established. (Industrial Components & Equipments Div. related sales Div. Hitachi Drive Systems, and 2 service engineering companies merged)
  • 2005 - Hoist, Motor Block, Ink Jet Printer transferred from (ex Taga Works).
  • 2007 - Ebina Business Div. transferred from Hitachi Plant Technology
  • 2009 - Sagami Business Div. transferred from Hitachi, Ltd.
